Sura 85: The Galaxies (Al-Burooj) ( سورة البروج )
بِسمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحمٰنِ الرَّحيمِ
In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
١:وَالسَّماءِ ذاتِ البُروجِ
[85:1] The sky and its galaxies.
٢:وَاليَومِ المَوعودِ
[85:2] The promised day.
٣:وَشاهِدٍ وَمَشهودٍ
[85:3] The witness and the witnessed.
٤:قُتِلَ أَصحٰبُ الأُخدودِ
[85:4] Woe to the people of the canyon.
٥:النّارِ ذاتِ الوَقودِ
[85:5] They ignited a blazing fire.
٦:إِذ هُم عَلَيها قُعودٌ
[85:6] Then sat around it.
٧:وَهُم عَلىٰ ما يَفعَلونَ بِالمُؤمِنينَ شُهودٌ
[85:7] To watch the burning of the believers.
٨:وَما نَقَموا مِنهُم إِلّا أَن يُؤمِنوا بِاللَّهِ العَزيزِ الحَميدِ
[85:8] They hated them for no other reason than believing in GOD, the Almighty, the Praiseworthy.
٩:الَّذى لَهُ مُلكُ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالأَرضِ وَاللَّهُ عَلىٰ كُلِّ شَىءٍ شَهيدٌ
[85:9] To Him belongs the kingship of the heavens and the earth. And GOD witnesses all things.
١٠:إِنَّ الَّذينَ فَتَنُوا المُؤمِنينَ وَالمُؤمِنٰتِ ثُمَّ لَم يَتوبوا فَلَهُم عَذابُ جَهَنَّمَ وَلَهُم عَذابُ الحَريقِ
[85:10] Surely, those who persecute the believing men and women, then fail to repent, have incurred the retribution of Gehenna; they have incurred the retribution of burning.
١١:إِنَّ الَّذينَ ءامَنوا وَعَمِلُوا الصّٰلِحٰتِ لَهُم جَنّٰتٌ تَجرى مِن تَحتِهَا الأَنهٰرُ ذٰلِكَ الفَوزُ الكَبيرُ
[85:11] Surely, those who believed and led a righteous life, have deserved gardens with flowing streams. This is the greatest triumph.
١٢:إِنَّ بَطشَ رَبِّكَ لَشَديدٌ
[85:12] Indeed, your Lord’s blow is severe.
١٣:إِنَّهُ هُوَ يُبدِئُ وَيُعيدُ
[85:13] He is the One who initiates and repeats.
١٤:وَهُوَ الغَفورُ الوَدودُ
[85:14] And He is the Forgiving, Most Kind.
١٥:ذُو العَرشِ المَجيدُ
[85:15] Possessor of the glorious throne.
١٦:فَعّالٌ لِما يُريدُ
[85:16] Doer of whatever He wills.
١٧:هَل أَتىٰكَ حَديثُ الجُنودِ
[85:17] Did you note the history of the troops?
١٨:فِرعَونَ وَثَمودَ
[85:18] Pharaoh and Thamûd?
١٩:بَلِ الَّذينَ كَفَروا فى تَكذيبٍ
[85:19] Those who disbelieve are plagued with denial.
٢٠:وَاللَّهُ مِن وَرائِهِم مُحيطٌ
[85:20] GOD is fully aware of them.
٢١:بَل هُوَ قُرءانٌ مَجيدٌ
[85:21] Indeed, it is a glorious Quran.
٢٢:فى لَوحٍ مَحفوظٍ
[85:22] In a preserved master tablet.
