Sura 88: Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah) ( سورة الغاشية )
بِسمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحمٰنِ الرَّحيمِ
In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
١:هَل أَتىٰكَ حَديثُ الغٰشِيَةِ
[88:1] Are you aware of the Overwhelming?
٢:وُجوهٌ يَومَئِذٍ خٰشِعَةٌ
[88:2] Faces on that day will be shamed.
٣:عامِلَةٌ ناصِبَةٌ
[88:3] Laboring and exhausted.
٤:تَصلىٰ نارًا حامِيَةً
[88:4] Suffering in a blazing Hellfire.
٥:تُسقىٰ مِن عَينٍ ءانِيَةٍ
[88:5] Drinking from a flaming spring.
٦:لَيسَ لَهُم طَعامٌ إِلّا مِن ضَريعٍ
[88:6] They will have no food except the useless variety.
٧:لا يُسمِنُ وَلا يُغنى مِن جوعٍ
[88:7] It never nourishes, nor satisfies hunger.
٨:وُجوهٌ يَومَئِذٍ ناعِمَةٌ
[88:8] Other faces on that day will be full of joy.
٩:لِسَعيِها راضِيَةٌ
[88:9] Satisfied with their work.
١٠:فى جَنَّةٍ عالِيَةٍ
[88:10] In an exalted Paradise.
١١:لا تَسمَعُ فيها لٰغِيَةً
[88:11] In it, no nonsense is heard.
١٢:فيها عَينٌ جارِيَةٌ
[88:12] In it, a spring flows.
١٣:فيها سُرُرٌ مَرفوعَةٌ
[88:13] In it, there are luxurious furnishings.
١٤:وَأَكوابٌ مَوضوعَةٌ
[88:14] And drinks made available.
١٥:وَنَمارِقُ مَصفوفَةٌ
[88:15] And pitchers in rows.
١٦:وَزَرابِىُّ مَبثوثَةٌ
[88:16] And carpets throughout.
١٧:أَفَلا يَنظُرونَ إِلَى الإِبِلِ كَيفَ خُلِقَت
[88:17] Why do they not reflect on the camels and how they are created?
١٨:وَإِلَى السَّماءِ كَيفَ رُفِعَت
[88:18] And the sky and how it is raised.
١٩:وَإِلَى الجِبالِ كَيفَ نُصِبَت
[88:19] And the mountains and how they are constructed.
٢٠:وَإِلَى الأَرضِ كَيفَ سُطِحَت
[88:20] And the earth and how it is built.
٢١:فَذَكِّر إِنَّما أَنتَ مُذَكِّرٌ
[88:21] You shall remind, for your mission is to deliver this reminder.
٢٢:لَستَ عَلَيهِم بِمُصَيطِرٍ
[88:22] You have no power over them.
٢٣:إِلّا مَن تَوَلّىٰ وَكَفَرَ
[88:23] As for those who turn away and disbelieve.
٢٤:فَيُعَذِّبُهُ اللَّهُ العَذابَ الأَكبَرَ
[88:24] GOD will commit them to the great retribution.
٢٥:إِنَّ إِلَينا إِيابَهُم
[88:25] To us is their ultimate destiny.
٢٦:ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَينا حِسابَهُم
[88:26] Then we will call them to account.
